  • Brazilian Presidential Ranking in Social Media

    May 2018

The Science House MrPredictions continuous the analyzes about the status of presidential candidates in social media since January 2018.

This report keeps the main names even if some candidates have announced their withdrawal, as Joaquim Barbosa and Michel Temer.

This survey presents the digital political engagement map of presidential candidates in the main social medias: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

It also shows the variation among candidates in different periods: January-March, March-May, and the accumulated from January through May.

Some candidates that were included in the presidential list in January had a positive variation between March and May. The focus is on Ciro Gomes which had an increase of 50,85% on the number of followers in social media surveyed, as well as Luís Inácio Lula da Silva with 13,14%.

There was an increase among some candidates who became part of the analyses since March. Guilherme Boulos stands out with a positive variation of 113,08%, followed by João Amoedo with 80,11%, Henrique Meirelles with 38,30%, and Manuela D’Ávila with 37,65%.

It is important to note that there have been some changes according to the March ranking . João Amoedo rose 2 positions overtaking the candidates Manuela D’Ávila and Fernando Haddad. Henrique Meirelles took one position and overcame Rodrigo Maia.

Jair Bolsonaro is still the champion in number of followers, but he had a negative variation (5,60%) in May if compared with the period in March (21,35%). The same thing can be observed with other candidates as Marina Silva (1,35% in March and now 1,08%), Alckmin (6,13% in March and 1,88% now) and Álvaro Dias (6,01% in March and 2,84% now).

The data are expressed in the following pictures. The list may change because the candidates have not yet formalized their applications, so the tables are not definitive.
